About the Author: Hassan Manjunath Raghunath (b.1938) had BE (Civil) from Mysore University in 1960 and MSc. (Engg.) from Kerala University (Trivandrum) in 1962. He was a Research Engineer in the Mysore Engineering Research Station, Krishnarajsagar during 1960-63, Associate Professor in Civil Engineering in GB Pant and Jawaharlal Nehru Universities during 1963?70. He has attended many teaching workshops, participated in UNDP and was a Water Resources Specialist for the Southern Region under AFPRO. He has one monograph, three books and a number of research papers to his credit. He was a Professor in Civil Engineering in MIT, Manipal, Karnataka. He is a Life-Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India).
